Dopewars and Loansharks

Just been on George Sepich’s Talk Marketing Now show where I talk on Tuesday evenings at 9pm about Social Media. Anyway there tends to be some fairly long and random conversations on there some of which are fascinating and some of which are not. Tonight I wanted to do a big shout out to Caliban Darklock… and how cool a name is that. I am not sure why he is Darklock and not Darklord… [...]

Facing your Fears or Plain Stupidity…

I have a vague I think fear of heights… I remember when I was much younger forcing myself to edge my way round some of the columns on the Leaning Tower of Pisa… I dont think you can do it any more… but back in the day you could. In the UK there is this very strong health and safety culture. You don’t have it here in Peru… and I think this video shows [...]

Art Thief

My old rather wonderful housemate, Phoebe Gilbert, sent me this joke that I thought was fairly amusing. In a moment of boredom I converted it into a video using Microsofts inbuilt Movie Maker when I was playing with it a few months. I thought I would share it with the rather limited viewers of my blog! Hope you enjoy!

The 11th Husband

I just edited this joke to appeal more to those selling products online.  Hope you enjoy. A young man married a beautiful woman who had previously divorced 10 husbands. On their wedding night, she told her new husband to “Please be gentle; I’m still a Virgin”. “What?” said the puzzled groom. “How can that be if you’ve been married ten times?” “Well, husband #1 was a Sales Representative; he kept telling me how great it was [...]

Chicha Morada

The Peruvian health drink. I absolutely love Chicha Morada. Supposedly it has great health benefits too, as studies have shown that purple corn helps regulate blood pressure and prevent colon cancer, probably because Purple corn contains one of the most active antioxidant substances in the vegetable world! Before moving to Peru I was addicted to diet coke, now I am here I probably drink 2 litres of this every day. Much healthier… Fairly simple [...]

Charles Tyrwhitt

I have wanted to write something about Charles Tyrwhitt for a while, not just because I think the shirts are the best in the world and would not be seen dead in anything other than a Tywhitt shirt when trying to look smart but because it is run by one of my brothers, Nicholas Charles Tyrwhitt Wheeler. I was reminded to do so by this fantastic article in The Independent. Anyway there really isn’t [...]

Ceviche

This is a copy of a recipe I included on my Donde Peru website. I have included a copy here because I think it is one of my favorite recipes and should be shown on my personal site too! Ceviche is without a doubt one of my favorite things about Peru. Remarkably easy to make it is important that you use the freshest fish possible. Typically Ceviche is made with Tilavia and sometimes Mariscos. Translated [...]

Unpasteurized Milk

One of my biggest upsets about living in Peru until recently was the inability to find fresh milk. All the supermarkets and all the corner shops seem only to sell UHT milk in cardboard boxes that lasts for ever and has a slightly odd taste. Yesterday I discovered that my landlord here sells amongst other things unpasteurised milk. It was something I had wanted to try for a long time. In some parts of [...]

Sausages and Lentils

I’m trying to eat more healthily these days! I was told that lentils were one of the things I should really be eating more of and I remember my mother cooking something similar so I thought I would give it a go and wow did it taste good. Ingredients: Italian Sausage Carrot Onion Garlic Celery Chicken Stock Salt and Pepper Lentils Olive Oil Celery Instructions Adjust according to how many people you are cooking [...]
