Typhoon Sendong

On the 17th December just 8 days before Christmas the Philippines was hit by Typhoon Sendong, which is apparently the worst natural disaster of 2011.

With over 100,000 people displaced and over 1,000 dead this is an enormous tragedy which has had far too little media coverage.

I had a message from one of the people who worked out there giving me a small idea of how terrible the situation was. So with Joe Finn, the man who helped me find several VA’s in the Philippines we put together in less than 16 hours a special offer full of internet marketing related goodies to help raise money for those who lost their homes, their livelihoods and more.

You can find this offer and hopefully support it here:

Initially we launched this with just 20 products. Since then we have gone on to add in a further 40 odd and at last count we had over 64 different products that had been donated to this worthy cause.

So far we have raised just over $17,000 for some of the various organisations out there doing good work, excluding some of the additional donations that have been made by those who have agreed to add matching donations from the sales generated from their own lists.

Hopefully we will now hit at least $20,000 by Boxing Day.

I would really like to thank in this post the so many people who donated products to this Special Offer, the over 1,000 people who have so far bought it and the many people who have mentioned it, tweeted it and shared it to their lists, friends and followers.

I thank you all.

There are various charities that we will be supporting from this offer.

Just got an email re WSO and was happy to support. Kudos to you for putting it together. My birth City, Christchurch, NZ was rocked by another earthquake a couple of days ago so we are never too far removed from the forces of nature that create mayhem and suffering.

Christmas is the season of giving so I hope your WSO gets all the support it deserves.

      Thanks Jonathon.

It was very much a team effort.

Joe and I just provided the initial spark and it has pretty much taken on a life of its own.

When we first launched it I would have been pleased with $5,000 in revenue. We have now just passed $18,000 and that doesn't include the extra donations Mike Lantz and other generous warriors are making separately.
